I thought I was being silly because I try to arrange my embroidery thread by color. When I bought 50 spools of thread, it came on a spool holder and I hung it on my sewing room wall just to admire it. Now I have about 50 more and I bought another rack to display them, but I have a cute wrought iron looking vintage sewing machine flat ornament atop another thread holder. They are all full. but I do try to keep colors organized. It's just pleasing to look at. The problem with buying a zillion spools of thread is, some of them are almost interchangeable. And since there are a lot of yards on each spool, they last a long time....I mean years! My hot pink is so old it breaks easily. Yes, thread gets old and weakens over time. You don't know how old it was when you bought it, so it's just "pot luck".

So I am not the only one! Unfortunately you can't really keep the threads on display, light does damage them in time, especially if you have a sunny room. I only keep the ones I am currently using.
