Very few patterns for pants are really a good fit for me, especially in the crotch area. I tried different patterns, Burda, McCalls, Vogue etc. to no avail. Even if the pattern was close to my measurements in hips and waist the pants did not fit well most of the time and I had a very hard time fitting them, sometimes I failed completely. So I was avoiding the pants.
The procedure described here results in a surprisingly well fitting pair of shorts, and is also quite simple. You will derive a pattern for your own measurements and there are few stitches. I used the pattern mostly for pajama (or home) pants but this is my preference only.
And you can find how to make matching pajama tops in my other tutorial here.
